Gratitude for Better Things This Year

Written by Lisa Cadman, 20/12/2025

This month I just want to finish up the year, by expressing my gratitude to all the people that have made my 2025, so very much better than my 2023/2024! Those were a really tough couple of years, but 2025 has brought me much hope and happiness. It just goes to show, that you have to hang in there, and keep the faith when times are hard – because there can be much better things around the corner.

My Mum and Dad

I really am so very lucky to have my incredible parents, who offered to have me move back home with them in November 2024, when I was so unhappy in the job in Derbyshire. Being with them gave me the time and space to set up my new treatment space, without the pressure of having to pay a large personal rent, on top of the business rent. I would never be able to afford both, so they literally gave me the chance to get my life and my business back, as well as giving me a ‘home’ back again, where I am loved unconditionally. Not to mention Dad waving me off in the mornings, the cups of coffee Mum made for me when I got home from work, and a fair few of Mums dinners too! It was lovely to have more time with them, having been away for a while.

My Kid Greyson

I am forever grateful for the relationship I have with my incredible offspring! They have been my rock, as I’ve been theirs, for always. I had many changes to adapt to during 2023 and 2024, and many challenges, but knowing that I still need to be there for them, is always the reason I keep going. I know how lucky I am to have that. We may live miles from one another now, but we speak almost every day, and they are my absolute everything, and bring me so much joy. I couldn’t be more proud of the life they have built for themselves up in Leeds, with their wonderful partner Mags, and their gorgeous cat Paddy. I treasure the time I spend with them. The way Greyson throws themselves into their university work, and the group they have formed for the neurodiverse kids there, along with their work at a special needs school, all the bands they play in, and their commitment to their own goals and dreams, whilst building and maintaining friendships new and old is just fantastic – they are one in a million.

My Family and Friends

Huge thanks to all the other members of my family for your ongoing love and support too – you have always been there through all lifes challenges – often when you are going through troubles yourself – I love you all to bits. My lovely sister Hayley, her partner Sola, my auntie Viv, auntie Pat, godmother Betty, cousin Heather, Chris and lovely little Ethan. You all mean the world to me. And Christmas is also a time to remember those we’ve lost too. Love and miss you all uncle Gary, uncle Mike and my lovely friend Jo. And of course Colin the Cat will forever be missed.

Thanks to all of my wonderful friends everywhere (you know who you are), who have been there to encourage me when I have doubted myself and my decisions, and continued to support me when I was miles away, as much as when I have come back to Surrey again. Your unwavering love and support is never taken for granted. Thanks too, to the precious new friends I made in Derbyshire, who have stayed in touch, and continued to support me from afar…you mean the world to me too, and meeting you made the move worthwhile, even though things didn’t work out.

My New Soul Space Workspace

I am so grateful to Sue and Graham, for allowing me to set up and rent their beautiful unit at Bulmer Farm, in the gorgeous village of Holmbury St. Mary, from November 2024. I can’t believe I’ve been there over a year now! It really is a special place, a complete sanctuary, peaceful and relaxing from the moment you arrive. It has become more than a work space for me. It is also a place I have been able to relax in myself between clients, and I’m so happy to have found it at the exact time I was looking to come home. Thanks to all the clients who also sent it to me while I was still in Derbyshire – Facebook really can be brilliant!

My Existing Clients

Over half of my previous clients down south, signed straight back up again to monthly sessions on my return. Without you guys I would not have a business, and to come back after I’d been away for over 8 months, is something I am SO very grateful for. You made it possible, and that will always mean the world to me. It is because of you that I get to do something that I love every single day, whilst hopefully helping you all with your wellbeing too. I love seeing (and treating!) you all every month.

My New Clients

I have met some lovely new folk since moving into Holmbury Village – some have become friends, some new clients, and some both! Thanks so much to you, for welcoming me into the village, and for your ongoing support and friendship. I hope to get out a bit more and meet more folk in Holmbury next year too.

My New Hurtwood Family

I started part-time work at one of the boarding houses for Hurtwood House School in September 2025, and it has really brought joy to me, and put a spring in my step, helping to look after all the lovely 16-18 year old students that live here whilst studying their ‘A’ Levels. This is the school that were also generous enough to give Greyson a scholarship to study here – the two most enjoyable and special years of their education. Being part of a small (and wonderfully happy and supportive) team has been so lovely, and being part of the wider Hurtwood family is a really special thing. Hurtwood is such a special place, with such positive, happy and fun folk around, you can’t not get swept up in it all! I am so grateful to our little team here at the boarding house, and to all of the fabulous Jackson family, for their love and support, and for believing that I would be suitable for the role – I love it! I’ve always got on well with teenagers – they are great fun to be around (even when they don’t really want to go to bed!). I don’t feel like I’ve only been here 3 months – I feel like part of the furniture already (and that’s a really good thing!).

So – I guess the message this month as we end another year – is let’s remember to be grateful for all the good in our lives. If we have our health, a roof, food, work and folk that love us, we are very blessed indeed.
