A New Chapter

Last month was a really tough one, and I didn’t get time to do a blog for the first time since starting them during lockdown in July 2020. This month sees a huge move for me…so this blog is just to bring clients and friends up-to-date with my plans looking ahead.

Keeping the business going, and privately renting for the last 20 years has been very difficult in Surrey – especially these last few years. Rising rental costs, more tenants looking for property (around 25-28 per property currently) and the increased deposit and income demands required, to view and take on properties, has meant it has now become unfeasible for me to continue to live and work in the south. Multiple house moves and high rents here, have cost me so very much both financially and personally.

I have therefore made the huge (and very difficult) decision, to move up to Derbyshire today. I have managed to find a job in a beautiful therapy clinic, and a little cottage to rent nearby, and I will hopefully in time be able to re-establish a few of my own Soul Space clients too, as I settle in the new area.

Whilst I feel very sad and disappointed that after living and working in Surrey all my life I am having to re-locate, I also think that maybe it is a good time for a new challenge. Sometimes we have to ‘Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway’. It’s a huge leap of faith, but I guess if we don’t try, we never know!

Saying goodbye to family, friends and all my clients here has been extremely difficult, but I hope that we will all stay in touch, and that I can catch up with folk when I visit family back here, and that maybe a few of you may come to visit me once I’m settled too! There has not sadly been the time to see everyone before I leave, as things have moved really quickly.

It will be lovely to be nearer to Molly, as she moved up to Leeds for university last September, so hopefully we can now see a little more of one another. A good friend of mine also moved up to Derbyshire with her family a couple of years ago, and they are very happy there, which gives me a little hope for my own relocation. It’s the start of a brand new chapter for me, so lets hope it’s a good one!

Properties are much cheaper to rent there than they are down here, and whilst rates of pay do reflect this, I have at least been able to secure a 2 bedroom cottage up there (so room for friends and family to visit), and I hope in time I may even dare to dream, that I may be able to once again buy a little place of my own, which is something I could never do down south, such are the property prices and levels of deposit required here.

I will, of course, be keeping in touch with all of my amazing family, friends and clients, and am always happy to hear from people, and happy to recommend other therapists, or still offer you advice on Treatments and Essential Oil use etc.

I’m not great with goodbyes, so I’m just going to say ‘can’t wait to see you again’.
